Being Prepared!

As you may have seen on the news, a great percentage of Coloradans lost power Thursday and Friday...Nick contacted the power company and they said we would be out of electricity until MONDAY! That meant for us, that we would also have no running water since we have a well that uses an electric pump. We quickly learned that we are MORE than prepared for such a situation and we were all excited for our indoor camping weekend.

We had Gail over for dinner. I made tacos on our camping stove and we had planty of fresh drinking water from the natural spring down our street. Never have we seen so many people filling water bottles from the spring. And we had plenty of wood, flashlights and lanterns with back up batteries and tons of candles (thanks for those, Nicole)! And we had a blast filling all our coolers with snow balls to use as ice for the food in the fridge. We were in fact, quite dissapointed to have the electricity come back on after only 6 hours or so.

And yes, that meant toilets wouldn't have water to refill, so the boys just peed off the deck as in the photo! LOL!!

She adimantly dresses herself now a days...(that's a compilation of boots from Gail, fleece from Sophia, vest from Sage and candy cane tights, as daddy calls them!!)
